DEAD OR ALIVE Guide to the Greek Islands
Who's mad, bad and dangerous to know among the many Îles Grecques?
We can all agree that Dead or Alive’s Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know is one of the most seminal synth-pop albums of the mid-1980s, can’t we? While the 1986 oeuvre failed to produce a hit on the order of 1985’s “You Spin Me Round” it did have a couple of pretty decent bangers as well as some charmingly annoying B-sides. All this and Pete Burns makes it the perfect compass with which to navigate your April Greek Island Finder. Shall we?
SIDE ONE
“Brand New Lover”
The Greek island that best corresponds to the album’s highest charting hit, an homage to ditching your boring spouse/partner and not feeling the slightest remorse about it, is, obviously, Mykonos.
Maybe Zakynthos. Definitely not Tinos.
"I'll Save You All My Kisses"
"Son of a Gun"
Crete, probably.
"Then There Was You"
Symi or Sifnos
"Come Inside"
Amorgos, Andros, Ios
SIDE TWO
Corfu. Hydra, possibly
"Hooked on Love"
Evia, Serifos
"I Want You"
Milos, Paxos
"Special Star"
