EXCLUSIVE: Emirates’ retrofitted Boeing 777 now jazzes up your Newark to Athens journey

EWR becomes airline's ninth gateway in the US with flights offering signature Premium Economy

We told you about Emirates business class and how special that is, especially for all you weary Americans planning a trip to Athens, Milan, Dubai or beyond.

Now Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced that the retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft is now serving the route between Newark and Dubai via Athens, operated by EK209 / 210. Newark becomes the fifth point in the airline’s American network to offer seats in Premium Economy aboard its enhanced, four-class Boeing 777 aircraft.

Emirates EK209 departs from Dubai at 11:30 hrs and arrives in Newark at 21:10 hrs with a layover in Athens. The return flight EK210 departs from Newark at 23:45hrs and arrives in Dubai at 00:25hrs the following day after a short layover in Athens. All times are local.

Enhanced premium experience

Following the deployment of the enhanced Boeing 777 aircraft with Premium Economy seats on routes from Chicago, Dallas, Seattle and Boston, customers flying to and from Newark will experience the best-in-class products that the retrofitted aircraft offers, including its award-winning Premium Economy, more privacy in the upgraded Business Class, refreshed interiors and cabins across other classes, and other enhancements for an elevated travel experience.

The four-class Boeing 777 features eight First Class suites, up to 40 Business Class seats, 24 spacious Premium Economy seats and 256 ergonomically designed Economy seats.

The upgraded Business Class offers more privacy with a 1-2-1 configuration and ensures every customer has direct access to the aisle. Seats convert to a spacious flatbed which reclines up to 78.6 inches. Additionally, it has a 23-inch HD screen, one of the biggest in the skies, which delivers the ultimate in-flight entertainment experience.

The Premium Economy cabin features 19.5-inch-wide cream leather seats complemented by a 6-way adjustable headrest that offers more comfort with a 38-inch pitch that tilts back 8 inches for a relaxed recline. The in-flight cradle position in Premium Economy is supported with a calf and footrest for added comfort, in addition to accessible in-seat charging points and a wooden dining and side cocktail table.

As part of  Emirates’ largest known fleet retrofit project , the airline has so far rolled out 12 upgraded Boeing 777 aircrafts into service, currently flying to Geneva, Zurich, Brussels, Haneda, Riyadh, Kuwait, Dammam, Vienna, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle and Boston.

Emirates’ Premium Economy seats are currently available on flights to nine out of the 12 US points served by the airline on a mix of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft. For more information on the new Emirates Boeing 777, click here.
