HOT WHEELS: Why KOSMOS is our top choice for a rental car in Greece
Let's face it, if you stay in Greece for more than a few days, you're going to need a car

When choosing a car rental company in Greece, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, always go with a local, that is to say, Greek company.
While I have nothing against the big corporate car rental agencies — in fact, despite mostly mediocre experiences with Budget and Hertz, Enterprise has really come through on recent occasions — to me renting a car with an American company abroad is sort of like landing in Europe and going to McDonalds. You could. Sometimes you have to. But if you don’t, then why?
In Athens and in many island locations, we unreservedly recommend Kosmos. For the personable service, varied fleet, convenient office locations and of course price really we have found none better. Plus they’ve been in the business since 1977.
We will never forget how easy it was to work with Kosmos during the dark months of the covid pandemic and lockdowns in Greece. At that time, we even put together a mini-guide to driving around Athens (click here.)
Now, of course, we can say that you don’t really need a car to get around Athens — in fact, the driving can be unnerving and as for parking, it’s a nightmare. However, you do need four wheels to get around the Attica region, which is something we recommend to explore the Athens Riviera and also get to places like Marathon, Elefsina and even Athens airport.
Speaking of the airport, Kosmos has an advantage over other car rental companies. Whether you pick up your car at the airport or at the Kosmos office in central Athens on Synggrou Boulevard, the nifty thing is that when you go to drop the car off at the airport, you can do so right outside the main departure area!
— no need to trundle to some remote parking lot and then haul your luggage all the way back to the terminal in the hot sun.
Like this, see?

That was easy, wasn’t it?
