Martian-Style Dust Over Athens Clears, Making Room For an Out-Of-This-World Superfood Festival!
The crazy dust has past, but Greek superfoods are built to last. And you can sample the best of them at the Superfoods Festival, as we did today. It takes place through April 28 in the historical garden of the iconic Zappeio building.
Artisan honey from Mani and homemade sesame pasteli are just the start. One of our favorite finds? Golden lupin beans from Areopoli gussied up as spoon sweet. You literally can’t even — trust us. Areopoli is down in Mani, deep in the heart of the Peloponnese, where “superfoods” have been a way of life for centuries.
We first discovered lupins in a salad at our favorite hideaway down on those parts, Tainaron Blue — read more about that here. Anyway, at the show today,
we spotted a reporter for Greek broadcaster ERT on the scene. We sampled complimentary fresh-cut pineapple, courtesy of Dole. We saw parrots flying.
We saw the sun. The dust had cleared. Yes, we’ll be sweeping up the mess for days. It will take some stamina, but guess what? There are Greek superfoods for that. Go now and stock up — you aren’t going to find this stuff at Costco.
