Meet the Perfect Greek Island Day Bag
This star duffel comes in three colors, but you can only find it here*
Duffle or duffel? Either way, we are big fans of the duffle or duffel bag for quick weekend getaways to Greek islands and other places. Why? Because classic suitcases are too big and heavy and rollers make too much noise on uneven pavement. Or the wheels break off. They also have approximately zero style — have you seen those rolling metallic Rimowa contraptions from Germany? Those things are about as appealing as a honeymoon in Frankfurt.
But the Hotel Grande Bretagne’s signature duffle or duffel bag is a clear winner. We found it by chance in the hotel’s unique lobby boutique while waiting for an appointment at the GB Spa. Speaking of which, the spa is the perfect urban oasis, replete with swimming pool and some really cool (well, actually hot) steam nooks like the Amethyst Grotto and Herbal Sauna.
But back to the duffle, or duffel. The duffle or duffle is made of sturdy yet flexible polycarbonite fibers — well, they look and feel like such fibers so they must be — accented with elegant leather handles and trimming. One side is emblazoned with the iconic Athenian hotel’s signature lion and unicorn logo in gold-colored stitching.
On the other side you’ll find a waterproof zippered pocket. Inside is a detachable travel pouch that obviates the need to pack an extra travel wallet; it snaps easily into place. A detachable shoulder strap is included.
This duffle or duffel is available in navy blue, olive green, and red and only costs, well, not very much, all things considered. We think the green hue is the most chic. It is a bit of a throwback to vintage Banana Republic safari-friendly luggage from the 1980s.
The bottom line? We’ve seen far inferior bags retail for a lot more than this. Buy yours today and get ready to board your next ferry — er, yacht — to Santorini like the dashing wishful Greek tycoon that perhaps you are.
If you aren’t, then simply pretend that you are by eating this potato.
